We are a little shocked we are doing this seeing how much we adore our “Why I Serve” Mondays, but we are taking a very quick pause to reinforce a vital truth our pastor shared in his message yesterday.
We are not designed to do life alone.
We need each other.
In fact, the Bible is really clear that we are supposed to encourage each other daily to help keep each other’s hearts soft toward the good news of Jesus.
What does that look like at Calvary Chapel Iwakuni?
It means getting involved in the right ministry for you!
We have one.
And if we don’t have one yet, we’ll make one.
Because we fiercely believe our lives are meant to intersect with our brothers and sisters in Christ, not run parallel.
We are supposed to be doing life together.
💙 Men’s Ministry
Men’s Breakfast is held on the last Saturday of the month at 8:30 AM. Our men just started studying the book of John. They also have monthly events where they run fast or catch things or swing from ropes or something.
💙 Women’s Ministry
Women’s Bible Study meets every other week on Tuesdays at 6:30. They are also doing a study on the Book of John. They meet outside of Bible Study as often as they can. They’re planning a paint night coming up! Coffee available for those who like to hang out but don’t do crafts.
💙 Japanese Ministry
This is for our Japanese friends who are learning the Bible and English and want to fellowship together! They meet for a weekly Bible lesson on Sundays during second service. They have monthly potluck on the first Sunday of every month, and they host English Conversations on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month at 6 PM
💙 Young Adult Ministry
This is new, but we are so excited this is happening! They are trying to meet monthly, and usually have dinner and play games or another fun activity.
💙 Youth Group
Our 6th-12th graders meet every other week on Friday nights at 6:30. They have the perfect balance of fun (we’ve heard about their games!) and Bible Study.
💙 Children’s Ministry
Every. Single. Sunday. Without. Fail. Both services. Age appropriate classes discussing age appropriate content from the Bible.
💙 Bonus! AWANA sponsored by the chapel on Base. They meet weekly on Sundays at 4 PM.

We know our lives have busy seasons, but we cannot neglect the command to gather and be discipled.

We are so excited about this year’s Thanksgiving Outreach Meal and for the chance to fill the bellies and hearts of our Japanese friends! 🍗🤎
We are equally blessed by a generous church family who is always so quick to step up and give!

1. Cook/Bake/Bring
Below you will find link to the Perfect Potluck for the meal. We would love for you to sign up to make or bring any of the items on the list! Once you sign up, we’ll be in touch for drop off times and other important information.

2. Give
Be on the lookout for a donation wall to pop up in the upstairs foyer with items that we need for the event. Some will have an item for you to bring in; others we have already purchased and you can bring money (yen or cash) to cover the cost of that item.
3. Invite & Pray
We have invite cards in the foyer for you to use to invite your neighbors and co-workers to the event.
We’d also love for you to begin praying for the event—for the logistics of the evening but even more that the name of Jesus would be lifted high as we serve our friends.

Today’s “Why I Serve” Monday is spending a minute with Abby, who serves in our children’s ministry and our hospitality ministry!
“Being involved in ministry has allowed us to get to know and serve the people we worship with every Sunday. That is so important to us because our church has really been an extension of our family, especially while we have lived overseas. God has used our church family to bless us in so many ways over the years and I’m thankful for any small way we can do the same!”

Hello, CCI Family!
We are so excited to invite our CCI kids to sing our call to worship (the first song) in each of our services on December 22nd.
🎄Who can sing?
All of our kids are welcome! (But we are planning for toddlers through 5th grade.)
🎄When is practice?
They’ll be practicing the song each week as part of the worship time in their classes from now until when they sing.
We’ll also have two live practices with sound on two Saturday mornings in December.
And we will send out the link to the song so you can practice at home, in the car, etc!
🎄Do they have to sing for both services?
No. To help with parking and seating, we’ll be asking them to commit to singing in 1st or 2nd service but not both.
🎄Where can I sign up?
You can sign your kids up on the sign up sheet in the foyer starting this Sunday. (We’d like to ask that mom or dad sign their kids up.) Once you’ve signed up, we’ll get the link to the song to mom or dad to practice!

Have you been outside today to feel that glorious weather? It is so good to see you, October! 🍁🍂🙌🏼
October is Pastor Appreciation Month, and we are just so thankful for the way the Lord has provided Pastor Glenn to lead, teach, and love us here at Calvary Chapel Iwakuni.
Should you feel the need to write him a note or card any time this month, you can hand it right to him OR there will be a basket on the table in the upstairs foyer for them. 💛
(Side note: He’s an involved pastor. We love that about him! He knows all the things. We know he will see this. We hope he smiles and gets excited for us to show him our gratitude and love for all he does for our church and for the Kingdom of God!)
Thank you for being a source of encouragement for the man God has blessed us with!

Good morning, CCI Family!
We are here again to celebrate the way our church body serves with a “Why I Serve” Monday post!
This week, we are hearing from Patty, who serves some of our littlest learners in the toddler class. She and her son, Nathan, faithfully teach the tiny humans about God and they are both so patient and kind to these small people!
But *why* does she serve?
“The Lord told me to go serve his children—meaning everyone from little to adults. You see, in the beginning of my Christian walk I didn’t have that thought in my head, but every time I read His word He changes my thinking and my understanding, and He does it with so much love. Why not serve them, and also see what I can learn from them? He created them and me, and the coolest thing is we all are His images!”
Patty is one of the sweetest people you will meet, and we are so grateful for how she loves toddlers, loves God’s Word, and that she makes time for these two loves to interact.

We are so close to wrapping up the month of September, and what a blessing to gather one last time to worship and study the Word together before October begins!
⏰ 8:30 & 10:15 AM
🧑🧑🧒🧒 Classes for mobile babies through 5th graders during both services(1st-5th graders sit with their families for worship and will be dismissed before the message begins)
📖 Bible English class during second service for those learning English and the Bible all at once
☕️ Coffee Cove open for fellowship before and after each service
🪑 We’ve been so blessed to have full services lately! We would love it if you and your family would consider using up every seat on every row to ensure everyone has a seat. We love to see a CCI Family Member scoot over or move a bag to under the seat in front of them to make room for another family member/family!
🧺 Please join us for Picnic at Kikko Park after second service as we say farewell to the Byrd Family and celebrate those taking their next steps in baptism! It’s a bring-your-own-bento style! More information will be shared about this during the service.

Happy belated Monday morning, CCI Family!
You guessed it—today we are taking another opportunity to share with you why our volunteers choose to serve at Calvary Chapel Iwakuni! We just love them so much!
This week, we are hearing from Ayumi!
"I serve in the Children’s Ministry because I love the children and am always amazed to see their faces light up when they realize how incredible God is and all the great things He does. I serve to share the grace and love of Jesus with others. For me, it’s essential to raise children with the Word of God from a young age, so they can grow up knowing His truth and never turn away from it.
Growing up, my grandparents would always bring my cousin and me to church early in the morning, around 6 a.m. I remember sometimes falling asleep in the chairs because there wasn’t a children’s ministry available at that time (though I wasn’t always sleeping—maybe!). Still, I believe that bringing our children to God is incredibly important.
It always reminds me of Proverbs 22:6: ‘Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old, he will not depart from it.’ It’s vital to plant the seed of God’s Word early in life."
